Cookie policy

Last updated and effective: October 23, 2026

Section 1 – What cookies are

  • Cookies are small text files a website saves in your browser so it can recognize your device on later visits.
  • Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser or after a period of inactivity. Persistent cookies stay for a set time, from a few days to about two years.
  • First-party cookies are set by our store. Third-party cookies come from services built into the site, such as payment processors.
  • On their own, cookies don't tell us your name, but combined with details such as your IP address, some state privacy laws treat them as personal information.

Section 2 – Types of cookies we use

  • Strictly necessary (always on): keep the store working, including your cart, sign-in, checkout security and payment fraud checks. They aren't used for marketing and can't be turned off without breaking the site.
  • Functional (optional): remember choices such as your language. If you block them the site still works, but you may need to choose again.
  • Analytics (optional): tools such as Shopify Analytics or Google Analytics show us combined traffic statistics. We don't use them to build advertising profiles of individuals.
  • Marketing (optional): tools such as Google Ads conversion tracking or the Meta Pixel, if we use them, measure ads and show ads to past visitors. Under California and other state laws this can count as "sharing" personal information.

Section 3 – Cookies on our website

Our store runs on Shopify, which sets the cookies below. Names and durations can change; Shopify keeps its current list at shopify.com/legal/cookies.

Analytics and marketing cookies are only set while those tools are switched on. We update this table when we add or remove a tool that sets cookies.

Section 4 – Third-party services

  • Shopify hosts our store and checkout under its own privacy policy.
  • Shopify Payments and PayPal process payments under their own privacy statements.
  • Google provides analytics and advertising where enabled; Google offers a browser add-on to opt out of Google Analytics.
  • Meta provides advertising where enabled, under its privacy policy.

We don't control these companies' cookies, and we don't sell information collected through cookies to data brokers or anyone else.

Section 5 – Your choices and state privacy rights

  • Every visitor can opt out of analytics and marketing cookies, wherever they live.
  • California (CCPA/CPRA): you can opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information, including data used for cross-context behavioral advertising.
  • Global Privacy Control: we honor GPC signals as an opt-out for that browser.
  • Colorado, Connecticut, Oregon, Texas, Virginia and other states: you can opt out of targeted advertising, the sale of personal data and certain profiling.
  • Everyone: you can ask what data we hold, ask us to correct or delete it, and you'll get the same service if you do.

To opt out, use our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page or the cookie banner where shown, email southbayjdmmotors@gmail.com with the subject "Cookie Opt-Out – [Your Name]", or call (669) 230-3198. We process opt-outs within 15 business days.

Section 6 – How to manage cookies

  • Every major browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Microsoft Edge) lets you view, delete and block cookies in its privacy settings.
  • iPhone and iPad: Settings › Safari › Advanced. Android: Chrome › Settings › Site settings › Cookies.
  • You can opt out of interest-based ads from many companies with the NAI opt-out tool and the DAA WebChoices tool.
  • If you block every cookie, your cart won't keep items, you can't sign in or check out, and payment fraud checks may decline your payment. If tracking concerns you, block only third-party analytics and marketing cookies and allow cookies from our store.

Section 7 – Changes to this policy

We update this policy when we add or remove services that set cookies or when privacy laws change. The date at the top shows the latest version, and we'll email affected customers where the law requires.
